Find your purpose in life, and you can be President

Find your purpose in life, and you can be President

Has anyone ever told you you could be President of the United States? This unbelievable goal is closer than you might think when you find your purpose.

Dylan at the Resolute desk at the Clinton Presidential Center.

When I was a kid, my mom said I could do anything, even be President of the United States. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

For a long time, this was mildly inspiring. 🌟

🌟 However, as life went on, I saw that I wasn’t making much progress toward becoming president of the United States. πŸ˜•

πŸ‘” Besides going to work five or more days a week and making steady payments on student loans and other debts, I wasn’t doing much of anything with my life. πŸ’ΌπŸ’°

😫 I Was Frustrated

Looking for a cure to my frustration and an answer to my stalled life, I did what any person educated at top schools would do:

πŸ“š I read books,
πŸ“ Took classes, and
πŸ“– Even bought a book about building my life brand. I didn’t finish it.

πŸ“‰ As my marriage cratered and my career flatlined, I was passed over for promotions four times in three years.

I started paying for counselors, coaches, therapists, doctors, attorneys, and participated in 12-step programs, Weight Watchers, Toastmasters, and Landmark Worldwide.

πŸ‘οΈ As I continued looking for answers, I finally began to see the problem:

I was living to fulfill other people’s dreams. 😢

It turns out I didn’t have any real goals in life. Is paying my bills and retiring in 30 years really a goal?

I had no real meaning in my life, and despite all the people in my life, no one was sharing it with me. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Going through the motions, living my mom’s plan of getting good grades, going to college, and getting a good job wasn’t working for me. πŸŽ“πŸ’Ό

I had the job and I was paying the bills. Now what? 🀷

😞 It wasn’t the real me. I hated it.

The path to success begins with finding your purpose

When I began clarifying my desires, permitted myself to dream, dared to write them down, and had the courage to accept what I wanted, it was as though I was finally able to breathe. 🌊

I permitted myself to enjoy my life, maybe for the very first time, and allowed myself to enjoy my job and to enjoy making money. πŸ’°

I realized I hadn’t been taking care of myself or other people in my life. πŸ€—

⬆️ When I committed to having fantastic relationships and truly stepping into leadership, my life turned around. πŸš€

I met an amazing woman who trained me for my first two marathons, lost 50 pounds, and started doing triathlons for fun. πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸŠβ€β™‚οΈπŸš΄β€β™‚οΈ

I began enjoying my job, was selected to lead teams, and finally received that promotion. πŸ™Œ

🌍 I concluded the world could work for everyone, and it starts with clearly defining your purpose.

✨ You can’t reach your full potential until you clarify your beliefs, purpose, and goals. 🎯
